The keynote on June 8 is essentially a global event that millions of people watch at once. Apple is also bringing agentic coding tools like Claude and Codex into Xcode, which will be interesting for developers. In-person spots at Apple Park are invitation-only, but everything streams live on YouTube and Apple's developer site for free.

AWE stands for Augmented World Expo, and it is exactly what it sounds like: the place where augmented reality, virtual reality, and extended reality all collide under one roof. Think spatial computing, smart glasses, enterprise AR deployments, and immersive entertainment. It tends to attract a mix of deep-tech builders, enterprise teams exploring field service use cases, and creative studios experimenting with new storytelling formats. If you have ever wondered what XR technology actually looks like in the real world beyond the hype, AWE is a good place to find out.

Organized by the National Retail Federation, it is the only event that brings together all the different security and risk functions in retail under one roof: loss prevention, asset protection, cybersecurity, and fraud. As retail becomes more digital, the lines between physical theft and digital fraud are blurring, and that is exactly what this conference digs into. The sessions are practical rather than theoretical, and the room tends to be full of people who deal with real operational challenges every day.

Retail loss prevention leaders, asset protection managers, e-commerce fraud teams, and retail IT security professionals. Especially useful if you work at a multi-location retailer.
What to keep in mind
This is a focused, smaller conference compared to events like CES or AWS re:Invent. That makes it great for meaningful one-on-one conversations and building genuine peer relationships in your field.
Automate 2026

Automate is North America's largest robotics and automation trade show, and it is genuinely impressive to walk the floor. More than 1,000 companies show up with actual robots, cobots, vision systems, conveyor technologies, and industrial AI platforms, and most of them are running live. This is not a conference where you sit in rows and watch slides. You can touch things, watch robots move, and talk directly to engineers who built the systems. If you are involved in manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics and you want to understand what automation actually looks like in practice, this is one of the best places to find out.

What to keep in mind
McCormick Place is large. Download the floor map before you go and identify the five or six booths you absolutely want to visit. Plan time between them because the space is spread across multiple halls.

Most conferences offer early-bird pricing that can save you hundreds of dollars. Many also sell out their in-person sessions weeks or months in advance, so booking early gives you the best seat selection.

Pack Light but Smart
Bring a portable charger, comfortable shoes, and a small notebook. You will walk more than you expect, your phone will die faster than you think, and the best ideas tend to come when you least expect them.

Say Hello to Strangers
The sessions are great, but the conversations in the hallway are often better. Introduce yourself, ask what brought someone here, and listen. You will almost always leave with something useful you did not plan to learn.

Almost every major conference has an official app or online schedule builder. Use it the day before to map out your day. Leave intentional gaps so you have room to explore and do not feel rushed between sessions.
